Cutting Board Care Instructions
To ensure the beauty and durability of your Horn Woodshop cutting board, please follow these care guidelines:
- Washing: Gently hand wash your board with warm, soapy water after each use. Avoid soaking or placing it in the dishwasher, as excessive moisture can cause the wood to warp or crack.
- Drying: Always dry your board immediately with a towel and allow it to air dry standing upright to ensure even drying.
- Oiling: Regularly oil your cutting board with food-safe mineral oil or a cutting board oil to maintain its finish and prevent cracking. It’s recommended to oil it about once a month or whenever the wood appears dry.
- Storage: Store your board in a dry area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources that could cause the wood to dry out and warp. If your board does not have feet your board should be stored on edge to provide even air distribution. This will help prevent warping or cracking.
- Avoiding Knives: Use sharp knives on the board, and avoid cutting on the same spot repeatedly to prevent grooves.
- No Harsh Chemicals: Avoid using harsh chemicals or bleach as these can damage the wood.
By following these simple steps, your cutting board will remain a functional and beautiful part of your kitchen for years to come.
